TL; DR
- The M4 MacBook Air could be released this week.
- Although the design of the M4 MacBook Air should remain the same, only the chipset should be upgraded.
A hot minute after the iPhone 16e launch, Apple is preparing its marketing and retail teams for the launch of the M4 MacBook Air. Last year, the Cupertino-based tech giant revealed the M3 MacBook Air on March 4, 2024, which adds more to the anticipation.

M4 MacBook Air Could Launch This Week

Between the M2 (March 2022) and the M3 (March 2024) MacBook Air, Apple took two years. However, in order to complete the MacBook’s transition from M3 to M4 lineup, the company is spinning the clock on the launch. The M4 MacBook Air could be released this week, i.e., in the coming days.
Like the iPhone 16e, the M4 MacBook Air could debut via a press release and a short video on the company’s official YouTube channel.
What To Expect From The M4 MacBook Air Launch?

Although the design of the M4 MacBook Air should remain the same — including the sturdy metal aluminum frame, multiple colors, a thin profile, and a few ports — only the chipset should be upgraded. Moreover, the M4 chip on the notebook should feature a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine.
For those catching up, the chipset provides around 20% improvement on the M3, which isn’t something extraordinary but nothing to ignore. Besides the capable chipset, the M4 MacBook Air should ship with 16GB of Unified Memory to better support Apple Intelligence and 256GB of storage from the base variant.

The M4 MacBook Air Might Comand A Slightly Higher Price
Considering the uncertainty regarding the trade tariffs and how they will impact the products Apple sells in India, we aren’t sure about the M4 MacBook Air costing the same as the M3 MacBook Air. There could be a slight price hike — around Rs. 5,000 to 10,000 — but nothing can be said with surety at the moment.
Apart from the M4 MacBook Air, Apple is also gearing up to launch a baseline iPad and an iPad Air with new chipsets. While the baseline iPad might not get support for Apple Intelligence, the iPad Air (which already supports the suite of GenAI features) should get an Apple Intelligence-supported chipset, like the M3 or the A17 Pro.
