Apple World Wide Developer Conference 2024 is just around the corner. The annual developer’s conference will kick off on June 10th wherein the brand will announce updates like iOS 18, iPadOS 18, Apple AI features, and more. The event will conclude on June 14th.
The latest development is that Apple is all set to announce a new application called ‘Passwords’ that will aim towards simplifying login processes for websites and software. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that the homegrown app will make it easy for users to log in to websites and software.

Passwords App by Apple
The new app is expected to be a part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 which will be major updates for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Earlier this was included in Apple’s settings app and was seen during website logins but now a separate app will generate and store passwords, powered by iCloud Keychain.

Features of Apple Passwords App
- The app will generate and securely store the strongest possible passwords.
- It will organize user logins into categories like accounts, passkeys, and WiFi networks.
- The app will sync passwords and account information across Apple devices via iCloud Keychain.
- There will be cross-platform support as the app will be compatible with the recently launched Vision Pro headset as well.
- The application will be able to auto-fill data into websites and apps for seamless and fast logins.
- It will support verification codes and functions similar to Google Authenticator.
- The password app will allow the import of passwords from services like 1Password and LastPass.
- Apple will extend the support for the Password app to Windows as well. There is still no clarification about Android devices.
- The app will remind users to enable Touch ID or Face ID instead of passwords wherever possible.
By creating this standalone app, the company wants to encourage the use of secure passwords and improve device privacy. This will also give a boost to the competition with 3rd party password managers, claims Gurman.
