TL; DR
- Apple has replaced its original Polishing Cloth with a second-generation model.
- The new version costs ₹1,098 in India, down from ₹1,780.
- That’s a ₹682 price cut, while the US price has dropped from $19 to $9.
- Apple hasn’t mentioned any major changes to the cloth itself.
Apple has quietly replaced its Polishing Cloth with a second-generation model, and for once, the big news is a price cut. The new cloth costs ₹1,098 in India, compared with ₹1,780 for the original.
The first-generation model launched in 2021 for $19 in the US and ₹1,780 in India. The new one costs $9 in the US, making this one of those rare Apple products that actually got cheaper. Apple has also changed the model number from MW693AM/A to MLH74AM/A and removed the original from its website.

What’s new? Honestly, we don’t know yet. Apple describes the new cloth as soft and nonabrasive, with support for cleaning Apple displays, including nano-texture glass. The description is almost identical to the original, and that tiny Apple logo is still stitched into the corner for anyone who needs their microfiber cloth to have a little personality.

Apple still doesn’t list the dimensions either, so we don’t even know if the new cloth is the same size. Someone will eventually have to put both generations next to each other and solve the mystery.
The ₹682 price cut is welcome, although ₹1,098 is still a lot for something that is, ultimately, a piece of fabric. Anyway, if you’ve been waiting for Apple to make its $19 cloth cheaper, ₹1,098 is apparently the closest thing to a bargain Apple is offering these days.
