Apple’s Ultra-Thin iPhone Air May Finally Get A Second Camera And A Bigger Battery

TL; DR
  • Digital Chat Station says iPhone Air 2 gets dual 48MP rear cameras.
  • Battery reportedly reaches about 3,500mAh or more, up from 3,149mAh.
  • Spring 2027 launch expected; price unknown after the original’s ₹1,19,900 debut.

Apple’s ultra-thin iPhone Air traded camera and battery for slimness and an almost surreal feel. However, a new leak says its successor could bring both back. Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claims that the iPhone Air 2 could feature dual 48MP cameras, a significantly bigger battery, and an even thinner body.

What Could The iPhone Air 2 Fix?

The original Air had a single 48MP Fusion camera. The Air 2 could add another 48MP ultrawide. It could be similar to the iPhone 17’s dual camera setup after all. The battery, on the other hand, could be about 3,500 mAh or more, up from 3,149mAh before.

That could add another hour of screen-on time, bringing the iPhone Air’s battery life closer to the standard iPhone 17. The display could grow slightly to 6.55 inches. However, it would otherwise retain its key characteristics: a flat LTPO OLED, 1.5K+, and 120Hz.

Under the hood, expect an A20-series chip reportedly built on 2nm, along with an N2 wireless chip and a C2 modem. Finally, on thickness, the iPhone Air 2 could be slimmer than the first version: 5.2 mm vs. 5.64 mm.

When Will It Launch, And What Will It Cost?

Spring 2027 is the expected window, or around March or April 2027. And yes, the iPhone Air 2 could debut alongside the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 18e. One report suggests it could be the only ultra-thin flagship released that year. Pricing is unknown for now.

However, hardware and rising memory costs could push it above the original’s ₹1,19,900; around ₹1,50,000 in my view.

I’m cheering for a second camera and a bigger battery, because those were the Air’s real compromises. But I’d wait for Apple’s own numbers before spending over ₹1 lakh on the original, and I’d brace for a higher price tag on the sequel.
