Asus 6Z launched in India with Snapdragon 855 and Rotating cameras for an amazing price

After settling the whole mishmash surrounding the Zenfone moniker, Asus 6Z (review) finally arrives in India. The rebranded phone carries best of specs including Snapdragon 855 chipset, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage 5000mAh battery. However, the shining element of the Asus 6Z is its fancy flip camera mechanism.

Asus 6Z Highlights

The head-turner aspect of the phone would be its rotating flip-top module. Since it rotates to act as a rear and front camera solution. This means you get to use its 48MP plus 13MP camera setup for selfies as well as rear shots and videos. Asus claims to have tested the flip mechanism for more than 100,000 times and that it should stand the test of time.

Interestingly Asus has enabled Camera2API by default. So, you could flash the Google Camera app as well to spruce the camera prowess. Even the free-angle flip camera functionality would work with third-party camera applications. Since the camera retracts back into its cave, we get a 6.4-inch full HD+ IPS LCD display that is protected by Gorilla Glass 6.

The flagship spec sheet boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip that is backed by upto 8GB RAM and 256GB UFS 2.1 storage. ZenUI 6 skinned Android 9 Pie runs on top of this hardware. Asus has announced the device would be getting both Android Q and Android R update. A 5000mAH power source should last long with the support from an 18W Quick Charge 4.0 charger.

The phone also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Google Assistant button or Smart Key (which can also be customized to launch other apps), upto 1TB expandable storage via a dedicated micro-SD slot.

Let’s see whether this mix marinates well to take on the crowded market including newly launched OnePlus 7 Pro (review) and upcoming OPPO Reno 10X Zoom.

Asus 6Z Price and Availability

Asus 6Z base variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 31,999. Next up, its 6GB RAM plus 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 34,999. Finally, the largest variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is available at Rs 39,999.

Asus 6Z would be available via Flipkart starting 26 June 2019 and you could apply for the complete mobile protection for Rs 99, which is otherwise priced at Rs 3,999.

It flaunts two color variants- Twilight Silver and Midnight Black.
