Processor

Starting with the heart of it, the ExpertBook Ultra runs on up to an Intel Core Ultra X9 Series 3 chip (based on the company’s Panther Lake architecture) with Intel Arc B390M integrated graphics. The CPU and GPU combination is paired with 64GB of soldered LPDDR5X RAM and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe storage.

Memory, Storage, & AI

That SSD is worth a special mention, primarily because it offers read speeds of up to 14,001 MB/s, which is faster than other laptops in the segment. On-device AI performance is handled by a dedicated NPU that delivers up to 50 TOPS (the total platform figure goes up to 180 TOPS).

In other words, the laptop is fully Copilot+ compatible for on-device AI workloads, such as live captions and real-time noise suppression for video calls. Cooling is handled by the ExpertCool Pro system, which uses triple air outlets to push central air pressure by up to 12%, enabling 50W TDP in the turbo mode.

Display

There’s a dedicated whisper mode on the device as well, which makes the fan sound go down to 20 dB. Another key highlight of the device is the 14-inch Tandem OLED touchscreen with a 3K resolution (2880 x 1800), with a peak HDR brightness of 1400 nits, 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and a 30-120Hz variable refresh rate.

What’s unique about the display is that it comes with Gorilla Glass Victus Matte, which keeps reflections down by up to 80%, making it useful for anyone who struggles with glare from the bright ceiling light in their office, cabin, outdoor meetings, etc.

Design

The ExpertBook Ultra weighs 0.99 kilograms, and it’s just 10.9 mm thin, making it one of the thinnest performance-centric notebooks I’ve ever tried. The chassis is carved from a magnesium-aluminum alloy with a Nano Ceramic finish that offers 9H hardness.

If that’s too geeky for you, it means that the laptop resists scratches and stains while maintaining a premium matte texture. The laptop is military-grade certified, which instills confidence in its overall durability. Like other Asus laptops, this one also offers a spill-resistant keyboard, which the brand is quite confident about.

The battery endurance (the device features a 70Wh battery) is rated at up to 19 hours of real-world use, which feels like an astounding number and something I’d like to try out myself. The device also comes with a 90W USB-C charger in the box, which quickly charges the battery.

I/O & Connectivity

Connectivity options on the device include two Thunderbolt 4 ports  (one on each side), two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a 3.5 mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth v5.4. Security on the device is taken care of by the Microsoft Pluton processor, NIST SP 800-193-compliant ASUS ExpertGuardian, and Windows Secured-core PC compliance.

Additional features include a 1080p IR camera with Windows Hello (capable of biometric login) and a six-speaker Dolby Atmos audio output system that rounds things out.
