Asus ROG Phone 5 confirmed to launch on March 10 in India

Gamers, fasten your seat belt for a new powerful smartphone from the ROG series as we have the official launch date of the ROG Phone 5. Asus has announced to unveil the gaming beast on March 10 at 4:15 PM IST in India along with a global debut.

Although the phone will be a successor to last year’s ROG Phone 3 (review), Asus has intentionally skipped the number ‘four’ from the moniker as it’s believed unlucky in Chinese culture.

The company released a poster revealing the launch date without divulging any spec details. Still, here’s what we have scoured from the web thus far —

Asus ROG Phone 5 Rumored Specs

Since Asus has managed to hide the technical specifications of ROG Phone 5, we rely on the rumor mills. Recently, a handset believed to be a titular device with the model number ASUS_I005DA was sighted on the Geekbench website. The listed device features a Snapdragon 888 chipset, 16GB RAM, and 512GB built-in storage. Also, it was seen to run on the latest Android 11.

Rumors also indicate ROG Phone 5 to pack a 6000mAh battery with 65W fast charge support. China’s TENAA certification site suggests the phone would be sporting triple front cameras including a 64MP primary sensor. It could get a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.

Earlier, Asus signed a partnership with Tencent, creator of PUBG Mobile, so mobile gaming enthusiasts could expect something exciting.

Asus ROG Phone 3

Asus has confirmed that the phone will be available in India through Flipkart following which the e-commerce site has dedicated a page. Asus has also announced to launch a headset and few gaming accessories along with the ROG Phone 5. The launch event will be held online.
