In a very, very surprising move, CMF by Nothing has announced that it will launch the CMF Phone 2 Pro instead of the anticipated CMF Phone 2. The CMF Phone 2 Pro, along with a trio of earbuds—Buds 2, Buds 2a, and Buds 2 Plus—will be unveiled on April 28, 2025, at 2:00 BST (6:30 PM IST). This pivot follows a series of teasers that began with Pokémon-themed hints on March 28, suggesting four new products.
CMF Phone 2 Pro: Design and Camera Details

Earlier hands-on images of what was thought to be the CMF Phone 2, now appear to be legitimate renders of the CMF Phone 2 Pro. A teaser from March showcased a triple-camera setup with a flash, integrated into a circuit-like design in CMF’s signature orange hue.

The Phone 2 Pro features rounded edges, a departure from the sharper lines of the CMF Phone 1, launched in July 2024. While the exact camera configuration remains unclear, possibilities include a 50 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide, and a 2 MP macro lens, or potentially a telephoto lens for enhanced zoom—upgrading from the Phone 1’s dual-camera system (50MP main, 2MP depth).

Expected Specifications

The CMF Phone 2 Pro is expected to feature a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Speculation around the chipset includes the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, or MediaTek Dimensity 7400. The Dimensity 7400, seen in the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, offers four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, a 0.1 GHz boost over the 7300.

The device is likely to retain the 5,000 mAh battery with 33W charging, run NothingOS 3.1 on Android 15, and feature an IP64 rating, consistent with earlier leaks.
Buds 2, Buds 2a, and Buds 2 Plus Launch

Alongside the Phone 2 Pro, CMF will launch the Buds 2, Buds 2a, and Buds 2 Plus, diverging from earlier expectations of a neckband and smartwatch. This trio of earbuds adds complexity to CMF’s portfolio, despite Nothing’s earlier promise to keep it simple.
The Buds Pro 2, launched in July 2024, featured 50dB ANC and 11mm + 6mm drivers and tweeters; the new Buds lineup could be inferior to this since the naming suggests that they’ll be an affordable option in the Buds 2 lineup.
