At the Galaxy Unpacked event held in January, Samsung fully revealed the Galaxy AI. The AI-enabled software utilizes both on-device and cloud-based solutions to enhance communication and increase productivity. However, since some of the new AI-based features are similar to those of Samsung’s in-house voice assistant, Bixby, this raises several questions.

Galaxy AI And Bixby To Grow Together

According to a report by Android Authority, Samsung has made it clear that Bixby is still active, even after the company’s devices have started supporting Google Assistant and Alexa. Bixby will exist alongside Galaxy AI and continue to grow. This might imply that the company will integrate some AI-based features into its voice assistant.

At the CES 2024, Samsung mentioned that AI could unit the company’s SmartThings app with Bixby. For instance, users could ask the voice assistant about switching on or off a smart home device, and the assistant could route commands to the right device based on the users’ location and usage data. However, Samsung hasn’t confirmed or clarified this elaborately. Hence, at this point, this is just a conjecture.

With Apple planning to improve Siri with iOS 18, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a One UI software update adding AI-based features to Bixby.
