TL; DR
- Galaxy S26 Edge now tipped to pack a 4,200 mAh battery
- Still just 5.5mm thick, says Ice Universe
- Earlier 4,400 mAh battery claim has been quietly revised
It seems Ice Universe has changed its mind, or perhaps just hit reverse like a cautious car on a wet countertop. After earlier posting the Galaxy S26 Edge would pack a 4,400 mAh battery, the trusted leaker now says it’s actually 4,200 mAh. And while that might not sound great, it still marks a solid step up from Galaxy S25 Edge’s heavily-criticized 3,900 mAh cell in the Galaxy S25 Edge.
The new post reads simply: “Galaxy S26 Edge 5.5mm 4200mAh.” A short but loaded statement. At just 5.5mm thick, the S26 Edge will be Samsung’s slimmest flagship ever thinner even than the S25 Edge, and yet somehow, it’s getting a noticeable battery upgrade. As per Ice, this is the highest density silicon-carbon battery on any phone.

Users of the S25 Edge weren’t shy about their frustrations. Many reported that their phones couldn’t even make it past mid-afternoon, despite the high-end internals. It wasn’t the worst battery life Samsung has delivered, but for a premium device with flagship pricing, the 3,900 mAh cell didn’t inspire confidence.
That’s why Ice’s earlier claim was such a big deal. On July 23rd, he stated: “Confirmed: The Galaxy S26 Edge will be thinner than the S25 Edge and have a larger battery thanks to new battery material technology.” Five days ago, they followed that up with a specific number: 4,400 mAh. But even then, the tone had shifted: “There seems to be some conflict here, I will double-check the information.”
Now, the revised 4,200 mAh figure suggests one of two things: either Samsung changed the internal layout late in development, or the original info was a bit too optimistic. Whatever the case, it’s a solid upgrade.
A 4,200 mAh battery in a 5.5mm frame would still be impressive. And if Samsung pulls it off, the S26 Edge could finally find its balance between form and function. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments section below.
