Galaxy S26 5G Review: Brilliant Where It Matters, Stubborn Where It Shouldn’t Be
#ExpertReview
I picked up the Galaxy S26, and found its pitch quite convincing. A compact, premium build, powerful phone that features the world’s first 2nm chipset, and a mature camera system backed by Samsung’s increasingly capable AI. While One UI offers a clean and refined user interface, it also takes care of long-term users. On paper, and in hand, the smartphone checks every flagship box with quiet confidence.
I’ve spend a few weeks with the Galaxy S26 now, getting a chance to actually check most of the check boxes, and, well, the phone holds its ground quite well, especially for a user like me who uses an iPhone as a daily driver. It’s the tension between what the spec sheet says and what the phone actually feels like to live with is exactly what this review is about.
- Compact, lightweight flagship at just 167g
- Premium build materials front and back
- Excellent LTPO AMOLED display with vivid colors
- World’s first 2nm smartphone chipset
- Camera hardware unchanged since Galaxy S23
- 25W charging slow for a ₹87,999 flagship
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Indian variant of the SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G come with a Snapdragon or Exynos processor?
In India, the base SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G is powered by Samsung's custom 2nm Exynos 2600 processor. While some power users traditionally prefer Snapdragon, the new Exynos chip holds up incredibly well this year, matching its rival closely in everyday tasks and graphic performance with its AMD-derived GPU.
How long does the battery last on the SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G mobile phone?
The phone packs a 4300 mAh battery, which easily gets you through a regular workday of scrolling, streaming, and texting on 5G networks. For charging, it maxes out at 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging, meaning it takes a little over 1 hour to fill up from empty. That is a bit slower than some fast-charging Android competitors, but it gets the job done safely.
Does the SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G have any overheating issues during gaming?
You will notice the back getting a little warm during long 4K video recording sessions or graphic-intensive gaming sessions, but it doesn't cross into uncomfortable overheating territory. Thanks to the improved thermal efficiency of the Exynos 2600 chipset and optimized cooling, it handles sustained workloads without aggressive performance throttling.
What are the camera specifications and upgrades on the SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G?
The device features a triple rear setup consisting of a 50 MP main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. While the physical camera hardware is virtually identical to last year's model, the updated AI image processing delivers noticeably better color clarity, natural skin tones, and sharper low-light details.
How many years of Android updates will the SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G receive?
Samsung is offering an impressive 7 years of major Android OS upgrades and security patches for this device. Since it ships out of the box with Android 16, you are completely covered all the way up to Android 23 in the year 2033.
Does the SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G screen suffer from the reported red tint issue?
The faint red or pink center tint issue has primarily been spotted on a few Ultra units rather than the base SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G. Even better, Samsung has officially confirmed this is just a minor software calibration quirk rather than a permanent hardware defect, and an over-the-air update is rolling out to fix it completely.
Is the SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G waterproof and scratch-resistant?
Yes, the phone comes with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, meaning it can survive being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. The front and back are also shielded by rugged Gorilla Glass Victus 2, making it highly resilient against everyday scratches and minor drops.
Does the SAMSUNG Galaxy S26 5G include a charger inside the box?
No, keeping up with recent trends, the retail box only includes the phone itself, a USB-C to USB-C cable, and a SIM ejector tool. You will need to purchase a compatible 25W Power Delivery adapter separately if you don't already have one at home.
