TL; DR
  • The Galaxy S26 Pro could get the same camera specifications as the Galaxy S23, which was released in 2023.
  • While the primary and selfie camera of the S26 Edge remain the same, the ultrawide camera could get a resolution bump from 12MP to 50MP. This is a welcome change, especially since the added pixels will add a lot more detail to the shots when buyers zoom in.
  • The S26 Ultra, like the baseline S26 Pro, seems to get no camera hardware upgrades whatsoever. I would really like to see Samsung upgrade the 10MP 3x optical camera on the S26 Ultra.

Ahead of the Galaxy S26’s expected launch in January 2026, the Korean news outlet ETNews seems to have leaked the camera specifications, and they aren’t exactly great, especially those of the baseline Galaxy S26 Pro. This time, the tech giant is expected to unveil three new phones: the baseline Galaxy S26 Pro, the Galaxy S26 Edge (replacing the Plus version), and the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

We’ve exclusively published the first renders of the Galaxy S26 Ultra and the Galaxy S26 Pro recently. Check those out here.

Galaxy S26 Series Camera Specifications (Leaked)

Samsung Galaxy S26

  • Primary Camera: 50MP primary
  • Secondary Camera: 12MP ultrawide
  • Tertiary Camera: 10MP 3x optical
  • Selfie Camera: 12MP front camera

Apparently, these are the same camera specifications as the Galaxy S23, which was released in 2023. This isn’t something entirely new, as we’ve seen the smartphone giants like Samsung, Google, and Apple stick to their camera specifications for years.

However, given the increasing competitiveness of the Android flagship market, particularly following the launch of the Pixel 10 series, Samsung should have at least upgraded the telephoto sensor on the baseline Galaxy S26 Pro.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge

  • Primary Camera: 200MP primary
  • Secondary Camera: 50MP ultrawide
  • Selfie Camera: 12MP front camera

While the primary and selfie camera of the S26 Edge remain the same, the ultrawide camera could get a resolution bump from 12MP to 50MP. This is a welcome change, especially since the added pixels will add a lot more detail to the shots when buyers zoom in.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

  • Primary Camera: 200MP primary
  • Secondary Camera: 50MP ultrawide
  • Zoom Camera 1: 10MP 3x optical
  • Zoom Camera 2: 50MP 5x optical
  • Selfie Camera: 12MP front camera

The S26 Ultra, like the baseline S26 Pro, seems to get no camera hardware upgrades whatsoever. I would really like to see Samsung upgrade the 10MP 3x optical camera on the S26 Ultra.
