Global X (Formerly Twitter) Outage Affects Thousands Of Users Per Down Detector

Elon Musk’s microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) appears to be down for many users at 7:15 PM IST on February 16, 2026. Users are facing trouble in loading the home page feed, accessing Twitter accounts, or simply opening the app and website.

Thousands report app and website failures worldwide.

The popular outage tracker Down Detector reports over 3,000 reports by the time we’re writing this article, with over 50% users facing issues with X’s website, 39% users facing trouble with the app, and 13% reported feed or timeline issues.

The issue isn’t limited to India, as over 42,000 issues have been reported on Down Detector’s global tracker, with 52% reporting issues with the app and 17% reporting issues with the website. From the data, we can confirm that it is a widespread X outage.

Users also faced an X outage on February 5 and January 16, with issues ranging from feed failures, media disruptions, and trouble in logging into accounts and posting. X has generally remained silent regarding the specific causes of these 2026 outages, often failing to respond to immediate requests for comment.
