Google’s Gemini app is now available in India. On June 18, 2024, the company’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, announced that the advanced AI chatbot is now available on the Google Play Store in India. Initially, the app was available to chatbot users in the United States. “Both the Gemini app and Gemini Advanced, which gives users access to Google’s most capable AI models, will now be available in nine Indian languages,” the company writes in its blog post.

Gemini Mobile App Supports The Following Languages
The Gemini app supports nine Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Hence, users across the subcontinent can use the chatbot to plan a game night, prepare a dish with specific ingredients, or craft a social media campaign for their small business. The app allows users to type, talk, or add images to get responses.

Download The App From The Play Store Or Opt-In Via Settings In Google Assistant
To access Gemini, users can download the app from the Google Play Store. Further, they can access the company’s AI chatbot via the opt-in settings on Google Assistant. Based on how users decide to interact with the chatbot, they can use it by corner swiping, holding the power button for a few seconds, or calling the voice assistant on their smartphone.
The Gemini app will also provide several Assistant features, like setting timers, making phone calls, and setting reminders. For those using an iPhone, Gemini support is rolling out directly from the Google app. However, it might be a few weeks before all users can access the AI chatbot. It is worth noting that the company is adding Gemini to Google Messages, giving users another way to collaborate with the chatbot on their phones.

Gemini Advance Is Now Available In Indian Languages As Well
In the same blog post, Google announces that it is bringing the power of Gemini 1.5 Pro to Gemini Advanced in nine Indian languages. This particular chatbot has a one million token context window, which allows it to understand and process vast amounts of data. Gemini Advanced can now understand multiple large documents (up to 1,500 pages total) and provide responses based on the content. Further, it can also tackle complex data analysis tasks.
