TL; DR
- Ahead of its official debut, the Pixel 9a was spotted on a German e-commerce website called “Technomarkt.”
- The Pixel 9a should feature the Google Tensor G4 (4nm) SoC, similar to the flagship Pixel 9 lineup.
- The primary camera, however, could be a downgrade from the Pixel 8a, though the 13MP (f/2.2) ultrawide sensor and 13MP (f/2.2, 20mm) selfie camera should remain similar.
- The German website listed the Pixel 9a’s base variant at EUR 549, which is about Rs. 51,757, in India on March 19, 2025 (when writing this report).
Over the past few days, multiple leaks and rumors have suggested the Google Pixel 9a’s launch to take place today, i.e., March 19, 2025. Yes, this isn’t the usual product cycle the Pixel A series follows, but it won’t be the first time Google prepones a device’s launch.
Google Could Push Forward Pixel 9a’s Launch

Usually, Pixel’s number series goes official late in October, but the Pixel 9 was unveiled in August, i.e., two months before its usual launch date. Given that the Pixel A series usually breaks cover in the month of May, bringing the launch forward by two months would imply that the Pixel 9a must go official in March 2025.
That said, let’s go through all the leaked specifications and pricing of the Pixel 9a. The phone should be available in four finishes: blue, black, pink, and white (the actual color names could vary).

Display

Ahead of its official debut, the Pixel 9a was spotted on a German e-commerce website called “Technomarkt.” Per the listing, the handset should have a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED screen that supports up to 120Hz refresh rate and can achieve a peak brightness of 2,700 nits.
From what it looks like, the Pixel 9a could have a bigger and brighter screen than the Pixel 8a. However, the Gorilla Glass 3 protection could remain the same (and cost-cutting seems to be the only reason behind it).
Performance
Apart from the screen, performance is another department where we expect the Pixel 9a to be better than its predecessor. The Pixel 9a should feature the Google Tensor G4 (4nm) SoC, similar to the flagship Pixel 9 lineup. Besides, it could have 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Cameras

The primary camera, however, could be a downgrade from the Pixel 8a. As mentioned on the e-commerce website, the Pixel 9a should come with a 48MP (f/1.7, 1/2.0″) primary sensor, which is smaller and has fewer pixels than the Pixel 8a’s 64MP (f/1.9, 1/1.73″) primary sensor.
The 13MP (f/2.2) ultrawide sensor and 13MP (f/2.2, 20mm) selfie camera on the Pixel 9a should be the same as the Pixel 8a.

Battery Capacity
Powering the Pixel 9a should be a 5,100 mAh battery, which is a significant upgrade from the Pixel 8a’s 4,492 mAh battery. Support for wired and wireless charging should remain similar.
Out of the box, the Pixel 9a will run on Android 15, Google’s latest operating system for smartphones. Further, the phone should get seven years of software updates and security patches.
Although the dimensions of the upcoming handset should remain the same, it might feature a better IP rating than the last iteration.
Google Pixel 9a: Price (Leaked)

The German website listed the Pixel 9a’s base variant at EUR 549, which is about Rs. 51,757, in India on March 19, 2025 (when writing this report).
Considering that the Pixel 8a (128GB) debuted in India for Rs. 52,999, we expect the Pixel 9a to launch at a similar or slightly higher price (around Rs. 55,000).

As and when the phone arrives, it will compete directly with Apple’s iPhone 16e. While the Tensor G4 SoC might not be a match for Apple’s A18 chip, the dual-camera setup, bigger (and smoother) display, and a bigger battery could give the Pixel 9a an edge over the iPhone 16e.
