Harry Potter Series: Who plays the lead trio?
HBO has announced the actors who will be playing young Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the series. They took to Instagram to write, “Dear Mr. Potter, Miss Grange,r and Mr. Weasley: We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please welcome Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley to the HBO Original Series Harry Potter.”
Apparently, more than 30,000 candidates were auditioned before these three were chosen. Last autumn, a casting call was announced, and final choices were made after months of careful consideration and screen tests. Let’s talk about these three a little more.
Dominic McLaughlin as Iconic Harry Potter
This Scottish child actor will don the mantle of Harry Potter, the titular character, originally played by Daniel Radcliffe in the films.
Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger
Equally iconic, Hermione will be played by 11-year-old British actor Arabella Stanton, who is known for playing Matilda Wormwood in Matilda. This role was played by Emma Watson in the movies.
Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley
Alastair Stout is relatively new and will play Ron Weasley, who was played by Rupert Grint in the movies.

J.K. Rowling on Harry Potter Series
The author of the books, J.K. Rowling, has talked about the Harry Potter series quite a few times. She said, “I am looking forward to being a part of this adaptation, which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long-term television series.” She will be the executive producer of the show.
Recently, the author shared her excitement about the project’s progress via her X account. She revealed that she has already read the scripts for the first two episodes and described them as “So, so, so good,” expressing approval for the direction the show is taking. The production on the show has begun, and filming is all set to start this summer.
When fans asked the author if she would be writing any episodes herself, Rowling confirmed she won’t directly but will be working closely with the show’s writing team to ensure adaptation stays true to the spirit of the books.
Harry Potter Series: Crew
Francesa Gardiner, the showrunner, has written the pilot episode of the show. Succession alum Mark Mylod is confirmed to direct some episodes of the first season. Costume Designer Holly Waddington has joined the team, while scribe Laura Neal has also joined the writers’ room.

Harry Potter Series: Plot
The new Max Original show will deep dive into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy all these years. Each season of the show will focus on one book in the Harry Potter Book series, and the project will run for 10 consecutive years, which means some of the books will run into multiple seasons. The plot is claimed to stay faithful to the books.

The production for the series began recently, and filming is yet to start. Reports claim that the shooting will begin in the summer of 2025 at Leavesden.

A report by Deadline states that the Harry Potter series might get HBO’s biggest marketing campaign of over 100 million dollars. The cost of production might be around 200 million dollars.
