The data of Clubhouse users, an invitation-only social media app on iOS, have been leaked on a hacker forum for free. For the uninitiated, the Clubhouse app allows users to create a room of up to 5000 people for audio communication. It’s been reported that the SQL records of over 1.3 million Clubhouse users have been compromised.

The leaked records from Clubhouse include user details like name, userID, photo URL, Twitter handles, Instagram handles, follower count, people count followed by the user, account creation date, and invited by user profile name. The sensitive data like credit card details have not been leaked giving a sigh to the users.

However, Clubhouse denies any data breach saying, “This is misleading and false. Clubhouse has not been breached or hacked. The data referred to is all public profile information from our app, which anyone can access via the app or our API.”

How to secure your Clubhouse account

If you are a Clubhouse user, you should need to be vigilant about suspicious invites and messages over the platform. Your account password should be of a strong combination. Also, enabling two-factor authentication on all internet accounts can assist you in protecting against unauthorized activity. If you haven’t enabled any of the above measures, you are advised to do the same.

Incidentally, it’s been only a week since Facebook data of over 533 million users have leaked on a hacker’s forum including data of over 6 million Indian users.
