Recently, Amazon India announced the launch of a new service, Amazon Pharmacy, which will facilitate the delivery of essential goods, specifically medicines, throughout the country.

Amazon’s verified sellers provide access to a wide range of prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, medical devices, supplements, and more, all delivered to your doorstep within a day. Amazon Pharmacy ensures same-day delivery in major metropolitan areas and tier 2 cities, while deliveries to other locations typically arrive within 24 hours. This service offers a convenient and efficient way to receive genuine medical products directly at home.

Talking about the new services, Harsh Goyal, Director of Pharmacy, Amazon India, said, “At Amazon, we work with licensed sellers to facilitate healthcare access in India by making it more convenient for our customers to shop online. Through Amazon Pharmacy, our sellers leverage a nationwide logistics network to offer thousands of prescription medications, OTC drugs, and healthcare essentials right to customers’ doorsteps across the country even in the remotest of areas. For customers who are used to ordering things from Amazon, we have kept the experience seamless and simple so they can buy medicines in the same manner they shop for their other essential products from Amazon.”

How to order medicines from Amazon India App/Website

  • Launch the Amazon India app or visit the website on your device, then select the ‘Health’ section located at the top-right corner of the homepage. 
  • You will be directed to a page where you can choose between ‘Pharmacy’ and ‘Clinic’. Select ‘Pharmacy’ to search for the medications or health products you require. 
  • The items you select will be added to your cart. To review your order, tap on the ‘Cart’ option at the bottom of the page. 
  • After reviewing your order, click on ‘Proceed to buy Pharmacy items’ and then select ‘Continue’ on the following page. 
  • Choose your preferred payment method—COD, UPI, Card, or Amazon Pay—and click on ‘Continue’. 
  • On the next page, click on ‘Place your order and pay’. 
  • Finalize the payment, and your order will be confirmed. 

If you want to buy prescription medicines, you will have to upload the prescription to buy medicines. Your order will be validated against the prescription before it is dispatched by a registered pharmacist.

What to do If one can’t find their prescription?

If you cannot find your prescription or if there are any discrepancies, you can take advantage of the complimentary consultation offered by the third-party telemedicine partner associated with the seller. Upon your approval, a practitioner will reach out to discuss your requirements and assess whether your prescription can be processed. They may also provide a new prescription, which will subsequently be filled by Amazon Pharmacy.

Offers and Savings on Amazon Pharmacy

Through Amazon Pharmacy, customers have the opportunity to benefit from cashback offers. Prime members can utilize Amazon Pay ICICI bank credit cards to enjoy a 5% discount on their purchases. Savings and additional cashback are available depending on the total cart value, with free delivery offered on orders exceeding Rs. 149. For non-Prime members, free delivery applies to orders over Rs. 299. If the cart value is less than Rs. 299, a delivery fee of Rs. 60 will be charged.

How to use Amazon to book a doctor’s consultation

  • Click on the ‘Health’ icon on the top-right side of the Amazon Homepage.
  • Choose the ‘Amazon Clinic’ option to start booking consultations.
  • Click on ‘Book a new consultation’.
  • Choose the type of doctor you need to interact with. Options include general physician, dermatologist, pediatrician, dietician, counselor, and more.
  • Choose the doctor you want to consult with. Confirm your timings and date for consultation and click on Confirm.
  • Make payment and your session will be booked.
