HP Omen X 2S 15 dual-screen gaming laptop with liquid metal cooling launched in India

HP has unveiled its Omen X 2S 15 dual screen gaming notebook in India. This machine targetted at the gamers is a spec beast featuring liquid cooling and top rung hardware. The primary attraction is the secondary 5.8-inch touch screen that HP believes will help gamers avoid distractions and address necessary controls without pausing or quitting the game.

HP Omen X 2S 15 highlights

Starting with the peripherals, it offers a dual display – a primary 15.6-inch LCD panel (up to 240Hz), accompanied by a secondary, 5.98-inch 1080p multitouch screen right above the RGB lit keyboard. The latter one is a touchscreen panel used for multimedia browsing, monitoring system’s vitals, performance tweaking, messaging, tinkering of lighting, and other case scenarios.

You could opt for different configs for the main display – a 144Hz Full-HD IPS display, an even faster 240 Hz Full-HD IPS display, or a 60Hz Ultra-HD IPS display, and all of them are NVIDIA’s G-Sync compatible.

It sports svelte aesthetics thanks to a thin 2 cm (0.78 inches) chassis yet weighs 2.35 kg (5.18 lb).

Under the hood, the HP Omen X 2S 15 is geared by upto Intel’s eight-core Core i9-9880H (2.3 – 4.8 GHz clock speed, 16 MB cache) processor, and backed by either NVIDIA’s Max-Q GeForce RTX 2070 or RTX 2080 graphics chips helming the graphics.

As a gaming rig, it obviously offers heat dissipation techniques such as HP Omen Tempest cooling system with two 12V fans, multiple thick heat pipes, multiple air intake, and air exhaust openings and Thermal Grizzly liquid metal cooling for the CPU.

The internals also includes 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM coupled with up to two 1TB NVMe/PCIe SSDs. With HP Omen X 2S, you get a slew of connectivity solutions such as Intel’s Wireless-AC 9560 802.11ac + Bluetooth unit, a Thunderbolt 3-capable USB-C port, three USB 3.1 Type-A ports, two display outputs (a mini DisplayPort and an HDMI 2.0b), a Full-HD webcam, a GbE port, to name the key ones.

The audio is aided by built-in Bang & Olufsen stereo speakers along with an amplifier, and a 3.5-mm headset jack.

HP Omen X 2S 15 Price and Availability

In India, the HP Omen X 2S 15 starts at Rs. 2,09,990 (Intel i7 processor and Nvidia GTX 1080) and goes up to 3,14,000 for the top variant. It will be available for purchase on online outlets starting July 1.

HP utilized the stage to showcase a few other products:

  • HP Pavilion Gaming 15 which is an entry level gear for gamers priced at Rs. 70,990
  • HP Mindframe gaming headset will also retail in the country for Rs. 8,990
  • HP Omen Photon Wireless Mouse with a 2.4 GHz Proactive Wireless Technology, priced at Rs. 8,499
  • HP Omen Outpost Mousepad at Rs. 7,999
