Ice Universe has now directly addressed the Galaxy S26 series’ Qi2 situation, and the update is pretty clear. In a new Twitter post, he says he confirmed through multiple independent sources that the Galaxy S26 Ultra does not include built-in magnets inside the phone. He also claims “100% accuracy” on this information. This means that magnetic functionality will still depend on using a magnetic case.
Even though the post only mentions the Ultra, the implication is bigger. Samsung usually keeps this kind of hardware decision consistent across the lineup, so the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ will likely follow the same path.

This is similar to how Samsung handled the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung supported Qi2 wireless charging, but there were no magnets built in. Users had to buy “Qi2 Ready” certified cases to get proper magnetic alignment for chargers, wallets, mounts, and other snap-on accessories.
This also helps explain the confusion from earlier leaks. Reports around a Samsung 25W magnetic wireless charger, a magnetic wireless power bank, and several first-party magnetic cases made it look like Samsung was finally adding magnets directly into the phones, similar to iPhone MagSafe or Google’s Pixel 10 series. Ice’s claim suggests those accessories were always meant to work through cases, not through the phone body itself.

Recent case leaks from Nieuwemobiel support that interpretation too. They show both magnetic and non-magnetic official case options, which makes more sense when the phone itself does not carry magnets.
So what changes for buyers? The Galaxy S26 series will likely still support Qi2 wireless charging speeds. You will also still get magnetic accessories, but you will need the right case for the full snap-on experience. That means you will not get the “out of the box” magnet convenience that iPhones and some Pixels already deliver.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 lineup on February 25, 2026 at Galaxy Unpacked, so official confirmation should land soon.
