Instagram Halloween Features: Secret Phases In DMs, Customizable Templates, New Font, And More

To celebrate Halloween, the Meta-owned social media platform Instagram has rolled out several Easter eggs across the app. These include secret phrases in DMs and Notes that trigger fun effects and animations, five custom Halloween Add Yours templates, and new fonts. The features are on the rollout from October 25, 2024.

First, there are secret phrases in DMs that trigger fun effects and animations. So, phrases like “Happy Halloween” or “Trick-or-treat” appear in a special orange color. Receivers of such messages will also see full-screen, Halloween-themed animation.

Instagram has also released five custom Halloween Add Yours Templates that help users have fun with friends. Users can find the limited edition Halloween templates in the “Happy Halloween” section of the new Add Yours Templates Discover Surface in Stories.

Use Meta AI’s Imagine Feature To Create Halloween-Themed Photos

Apart from the message effects and Add Yours template, Instagram users can also use Meta AI’s Imagine feature to create a virtual avatar of themselves, as a Campire or anything else of the Halloween spirit. Further, users can share their AI-generated costumes and pictures on their stories.

Then there is a new font called “Halloween” and a text effect called “Haunted” that helps users express themselves on Stories, Feed, and Reels. Last but not least, users can set a Halloween chat theme for DMs and IG Broadcast channels.
