In certain parts of Delhi, Internet and mobile services have been restricted as per government order. Many residents have flagged the issue on Twitter by posting tweets on suspended internet services by service providers in the national capital.

Airtel and Vodafone confirmed that mobile and internet service has been restricted after the government orders. It is worth pointing out that both mobile carriers removed their tweets instantly.

All three services – Internet, voice, and SMS services – are not available to users living in select areas of New Delhi. As per Delhi Police, affected areas include Mandi House, Bawana, Jamia Nagar and Shaheen Bagh, Seelampur, Jaffarbad, and Mustafabad, North and Central districts.

Wi-Fi services remain unaffected as the government order is as of now only limited to mobile services. The government has already imposed major cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, etc under Sec 144 of CrPc, to curtail growing agitation against the recent Citizenship Amendment Act.

This isn’t the first instance of such restrictions on connectivity in the country. Earlier the government directed ISPs to put internet services on hold in Aligarh, Meerut, Assam, and parts of West Bengal when situation was tense in these regions.
