TL; DR
  • At first glance, the iPhone Fold looks like the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. In fact, the iPhone Fold also features rounded corners, just like the Pixel Fold.
  • As mentioned in the video, the iPhone Fold might feature a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.8-inch inner screen.
  • The video mentions how the iPhone Fold could feature a pressure-distribution metal plate, liquid metal (in the hinge), and an in-cell touch panel to make the crease less apparent while providing accurate touch feedback.

The popular YouTube channel FrontPageTech has shared a video reportedly featuring CAD renders of Apple’s upcoming foldable. At first glance, the iPhone Fold looks like the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. In fact, the iPhone Fold also features rounded corners, just like the Pixel Fold.

A familiar design, with echoes of Pixel and Samsung foldables

In comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 (review) features boxy edges (similar to the S25 Ultra). But the twist in the story is Samsung’s purported Galaxy Wide Fold (with rounded edges), which the company is said to be launching as a response to Apple’s foldable.

As mentioned in the video, the iPhone Fold might feature a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.8-inch inner screen. These dimensions are similar to those of the Samsung Wide Fold, which has a slightly smaller yet proportional 5.35-inch cover screen and a 7.58-inch inner foldable screen.

Thickness, hinge design, and Apple’s reported push for a crease-free screen

Apple’s first foldable is said to measure 9mm when folded and 4.5mm when unfolded, making it slightly thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. If Apple actually achieves these dimensions with a crease-free display, it could easily help the iPhone Fold undercut the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s sales.

The video mentions how the iPhone Fold could feature a pressure-distribution metal plate, liquid metal (in the hinge), and an in-cell touch panel to make the crease less apparent while providing accurate touch feedback.

The render also showcases a dual-camera setup on the back of the phone (placed in a Pixel-like horizontal camera visor). Other than that, the phone has two selfie shooters: one on the cover screen and another on the main foldable screen.
