TL; DR
  • iQOO India CEO Nipun Marya and vivo India have both confirmed OriginOS 6, replacing Funtouch OS with a modern interface.
  • Based on Android 16, it is expected to bring smoother performance, a redesigned control center, customizable lock screens, and new animations, debuting on iQOO 15, vivo X300, and vivo X300 Pro.
  • Beta starts September 29, 2025, for both vivo and iQOO devices, ahead of the full launch in China on October 10.

The shift away from Funtouch OS is now official. In back-to-back announcements, iQOO India CEO Nipun Marya and vivo India have confirmed that OriginOS 6 is on its way to global markets, including India. The teasers, shared on X and Instagram, carried the tagline, “We are ready for a new experience. Are you?” with the hashtags #OriginOS6 and #ComingSoon.

Funtouch OS has been criticized for years for its old design and lack of refinement compared to OxygenOS or HyperOS. Now, OriginOS, previously limited to China, will replace it worldwide as vivo and iQOO unify their software ecosystem.

Features and Improvements

OriginOS 6 will introduce a redesigned control center, customizable lock screens with clocks and charging animations, and better notification handling with stacked layouts. We’ll also see visual depth through light and shadow effects, smoother animations, and performance boosts.

We are also expecting a refreshed music player for the lock screen, UI polish, and fluid navigation round out the update, making it the most modern OS vivo has shipped globally.

OriginOS 6 Rollout Timeline

OriginOS 6

Beta testing for OriginOS 6 begins on September 29, 2025, for both vivo and iQOO users. The vivo X200 Pro will likely be one of the first devices in the beta program, alongside the iQOO 13.

The iQOO 15 itself is launching with OriginOS 6 out of the box, sporting a 6.85-inch 2K Samsung display, 7,000 mAh battery, and triple 50 MP camera setup with a color-changing back panel. The vivo X300 series is also confirmed to debut with OriginOS 6 on October 13 in China.

The global unveiling of OriginOS 6 will take place on October 10, 2025, at vivo’s developer conference in China. The India rollout should follow soon after, possibly timed with the festive season. Importantly, Indian users will now receive the same version of OriginOS as Chinese users, minus local China-only services.
