JioHotstar’s New Monthly Mobile Plan Costs Rs. 79

The monthly Mobile plan is the latest addition to the OTT’s subscription tiers. It costs Rs. 79 per month and gives access to the platform’s wide array of content on one mobile device (in 720p HD).

This is an ad-supported tier, meaning subscribers will see ads before and during the content they stream. Moreover, the monthly subscription plan provides viewers with more flexibility in terms of payment and commitment to the platform. However, it will reportedly exclude access to some shows and movies.

Super Tier Gets A New Monthly Subscription Plan, Prices Hiked For Other Plans

Along with the monthly Mobile plan, JioHotstar has launched a new monthly Super plan at Rs. 149, offering access on up to 2 devices (in 1080p FHD resolution). While the subscription offers access to all the content on the OTT (including content not included in the Mobile plan), it supports advertisements.

The Super tier now costs Rs. 349 when paid quarterly (up from Rs. 299) and Rs. 1,099 when paid annually (up from Rs. 899). However, neither of them includes any additional benefits over the monthly Super tier.

Premium Tier Sees The Highest Price Hike

The monthly Premium subscription costs Rs. 299 and offers 4K+ Dolby Vision/Atmos content, ad-free, on up to 4 devices. However, the quarterly Premium tier will now cost Rs. 699 (up from Rs. 499), while the annual Premium tier subscription price has increased from Rs. 1,499 to Rs. 2,199 (a 47% hike).

The Hollywood bundle, which costs Rs. 49 per month, is bundled in the Super and the Premium subscription tiers.

Existing Customers Can Continue To Pay The Old Price (But There’s A Catch)

Existing JioHotstar customers who already have an auto-pay setup for the monthly, quarterly, or annual subscription tiers will continue to pay the old rates (even after January 28, 2026), as long as their auto-renewal or auto-pay remains active. If the subscription is not on an auto-renewal basis, buyers would have to pay the revised prices from February 2026.

“If you cancel your subscription or if it fails to auto renew on/after 28 January, then you will have to purchase the new Super or Premium plan at an increased price,” JioHotStar clarifies in an official support page post.

Increasing prices without increasing customer benefits seems a tad unprecedented, especially for those without access to the global content catalogue. The monthly subscription plan could surely attract new customers to the platform who want to watch sports events like IPL or ICC tournaments.
