Apple is looking forward to expanding its product portfolio and seems like foldable devices appear to be a great avenue. We have heard about foldable iPhones and foldable iPads in the making, however, it seems like Apple is likely working on just one foldable device behind closed doors as of now – a foldable Macbook.

Don’t worry, we aren’t just making stuff up. A reputed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo posted about the same. Kuo says Apple is likely working on the development of a foldable MacBook with a 20.3-inch display that could arrive no sooner than 2027. Of course, that’s an exceptionally long time to wait but it’s Apple, the Cupertino-based giant that takes its sweet time to fix issues and adhere to the highest quality standards before adopting any new technology.

Kuo boasts that the MacBook measures 20.3-inch while tipster Revegnus on X (formerly Twitter) quotes a 20.25-inch foldable display in the works. Another significance with the size is that a 20.3-inch foldable MacBook would be the largest compared to a 16.2-inch MacBook Pro (non-foldable) model available in the market today.

Why a foldable MacBook, you might ask? There’s no update on why, however, it seems Apple is looking after ironing out the various issues today’s foldable devices are plagued with including visible creases, durability issues, and the high price tags on such devices.

Do note that this doesn’t mean Apple will quote a lower price tag because the tech giant is known for extravagant prices on its devices, especially in India. We might see something happening with foldable devices under Apple as well.

The launch timeline is set to 2027, three years from now. This should give Apple enough time to get the engineering and development done before rolling such a futuristic tech. On the flip side, it doesn’t mean the aforementioned timeline is fixed. There have been instances when Apple has delayed products or even scrapped them altogether if the development isn’t a viable option. For now, all we can say is to take it with a pinch of salt until further communication isn’t available.
