TL; DR
- A new report by Macworld states that the M5 MacBook Pro models could debut as soon as January 28, 2026.
- If the date sounds familiar, that’s because Apple’s newly launched Creator Studio is also debuting on the App Store on the same day.
Apple already has a pretty solid lineup of MacBooks on the shelves, including the 13-inch M4 MacBook Air and the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro. While these are pretty capable notebooks for everyday and power use, Apple’s top-tier MacBook Pro models based on maxed-out M5 chips aren’t official yet. However, that could change later this month.

M5 Pro & M5 Mac MacBook Pro Release Timeline Leaked

A new report by Macworld states that the M5 MacBook Pro models could debut as soon as January 28, 2026. If the date sounds familiar, that’s because Apple’s newly launched Creator Studio is also debuting on the App Store on the same day.
Given that Apple has often tied software releases to its hardware (since both target the same customer), the speculative M5 MacBook Pro launch date makes sense.
Apple Has Preferred Wednesdays For MacBook Launches
Furthermore, January 28 is a Wednesday, a day that the company prefers for hardware launches. Take the baseline M5 MacBook Pro as an example: Apple announced it on October 15, 2025, and released it on October 22, 2025, both of which are Wednesdays.
The M4 MacBook Pro was also announced on October 30, 2024 (Wednesday), while the M4 MacBook Air was announced and released on subsequent Wednesdays. This should be enough evidence to support Apple’s love for the day for its hardware launches, particularly the MacBook.

We’re Expecting A Total Of Five New MacBook Models
The M5 MacBook Pro lineup, if it goes official on January 28 (or starts retailing on the day), will include multiple models.
- M5 MacBook Pro (16-inch)
- M5 Pro MacBook Pro (14-inch)
- M5 Pro MacBook Pro (16-inch)
- M5 Max MacBook Pro (14-inch)
- M5 Max MacBook Pro (16-inch)
Hence, we expect to see five Pro MacBooks from Apple. If the company plans to unveil the Pro lineup this month, expect a cryptic teaser from one of its high-profile executives via its official X account a week or so before the launch.
