Co-founder and chief executive officer of HTech India, Madhav Sheth, has joined Nxtcell India to spearhead the launch of Alcatel smartphones in India. Though the former Realme India CEO won’t leave his current role at Htech, he’s come on board at Nxtcell as a director and a shareholder.

Nxtcell To Launch Alcatel Smartphones In India Under Sheth’s Leadership

For those catching up, Nxtcell holds the license to the Alcatel brand, which is licensed by TCL Communications, a subsidiary of Nokia. Under Sheth’s leadership, the company could launch several Alcatel smartphones in India.

Alcatel Will Sell Its Smartphones Via Flipkart

Most recently, Alcatel announced its return to the Indian market, introducing a range of new devices, starting with smartphones. The company partnered with the e-commerce platform Flipkart to sell its devices online. Given that Sheth has confirmed his role in Nxtcell India, it looks like an Alcatel smartphone launch is right around the corner.

It is worth mentioning that Sheth isn’t leaving his role as co-founder and CEO of HTech India, a company formed in 2023 to revive Honor’s Indian operations. He will continue to oversee HTech’s operations while streamlining everything for Alcatel’s launch in India.

HTech India Doesn’t Have Any Role In Alcatel’s Smartphone Launch

Sheth has also clarified that HTech India does not have a role in Alcatel’s smartphone launch. In fact, the company is gearing up to launch five Honor devices in the country, including the Honor X and Magic series handsets.

However, it’s no secret that Honor is struggling to gain traction in the Indian market. Reports suggest that HTech is undergoing a massive restructuring, leading to mass layoffs and sluggish operations. Even so, the company is working to optimize its business and make a roadmap for the next two years.
