Mahindra XUV 7XO Roundup: Pre-Bookings, Release Date, Exterior/Interior Changes, & Engine Options

After unveiling the XEV 9s, Indian auto giant Mahindra is preparing to unveil a major facelift of the XUV700, called the XUV 7XO. The product sits in the company’s premium SUV lineup and continues the brand’s new naming convention (similar to XUV 3XO). It will build on the strengths of the outgoing XUV700 with updated design, technology, and comfort enhancements.

Mahindra XUV 7XO: Bookings & Release Date

Pre-bookings for the upcoming XUV 7XO will commence on December 15, 2025, at Mahindra dealerships and on the official website. To reserve a unit, buyers need to pay a token amount of Rs. 21,000.

Following the commencement of pre-bookings, Mahindra will launch the car on January 5, 2026. Whether deliveries will begin on the day or later in the month is still to be confirmed.

Mahindra XUV 7XO: Powetrain Options

The D1-segment SUV will be based on the same platform as the XUV700 (global monocoque SUV platform codenamed W601). Since Mahindra has confirmed the car will be available with petrol and diesel engines, we expect they’ll be the same as those that power the outgoing model.

  • 2.0-liter turbo-petrol (mStallion TGDi): 200 PS and 380 Nm
  • 2.2-liter turbo-diesel (mHawk): 185 PS and 450 Nm

Regarding transmission options, both engines should be available with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic (torque-converter) transmission. Only the top-level trim, powered by the diesel automatic drivetrain, will feature all-wheel drive. Otherwise, all drivetrains are front-wheel drive standard.

Mahindra XUV 7XO: Exterior & Interior Updates

As seen in the official teasers, the XUV 7XO features a redesigned front grille with new styling elements, a new LED projector headlamp setup with updated DRLs, a modern alloy wheel design, updated rear lamps, and newer color finishes (including a maroon shade).

On the inside, the vehicle could feature a triple-screen driver and infotainment system comprising an instrument cluster, a central infotainment screen, and a third co-driver’s screen (as seen on the Mahindra XEV 9e and XEV 9S). Other expected features include a Level 2 ADAS suite, a panoramic sunroof, and a refreshed cabin feel.
