TL; DR
  • Multiple reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki India will announce the e-Vitara on September 3, 2025, right in time for the 2025 festive season in India.
  • Rumors suggest that the vehicle’s price could start at Rs. 17 lakhs (ex-showroom), making it a direct competitor to vehicles like the Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor EV, and Hyundai Creta Electric.
  • On the same day as the e-Vitara, Maruti Suzuki might launch the rumored Escudo compact ICE SUV (the name isn’t confirmed or finalized yet).

After multiple delays, Maruti Suzuki has finally confirmed the launch date for its first electric vehicle (an SUV no less) in India: the e-Vitara. For those who have been waiting for the automaker’s entry into the EV market, the anticipation ends in September 2025.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara Launch Date (India)

Multiple reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki India will announce the e-Vitara on September 3, 2025, right in time for the 2025 festive season in India. The e-Vitara will be followed by three more EVs by 2030. This aligns with the earlier reports about the automaker releasing the vehicle in the third quarter of 2025.

Rumors suggest that the vehicle’s price could start at Rs. 17 lakhs (ex-showroom), making it a direct competitor to vehicles like the Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor EV, and Hyundai Creta Electric.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara Key Features

We already know the key specifications of the EV. First of all, it will come with two battery packs: 48.8 kWh (144 hp / 189 Nm) and 61.1 kWh (174 hp / 189 Nm), with the latter providing a real-world range of about 500 kilometers between charges. In our opinion, the smaller one could last around 350 to 400 kilometers. The eSUV could be available in three trims: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha.

While features like the Y-shaped LED DRLs with LED headlamps, blacked-out front grill, and silver cladding at the bottom should be available from the entry-level trim, the vehicle should also offer 18-inch alloy wheels, an integrated dual-screen design (with a 10.1-inch instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen), and a rotary dial for terrain/drive mode selection.

The top models should also feature options such as a panoramic sunroof, a 10-way adjustable driver’s seat, and ventilated front passenger seats. You should also get features like a 360-degree camera and a Level 2 ADAS suite.

On the same day as the e-Vitara, Maruti Suzuki might launch the rumored Escudo compact ICE SUV (the name isn’t confirmed or finalized yet). The five-seater could feature a Dzire-inspired front fascia with sleeker headlamps, while the grill at the bottom could be similar to the e-Vitara.

The side profile of the vehicle could be dominated by a slightly tapering roofline, large alloy wheels, while the rear could feature sharp LED tail lamps. On the inside, the purported Maruti Escudo could offer more space than the company’s Grand Vitara and rivals like Creta and Seltos.

Reports also suggest that the Escudo will be available via Maruti’s Arena dealerships, suggesting that it will maintain an affordable profile. More details about the vehicle are expected to emerge online in the coming days.
