Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its all-new electric sedan, the all new electric C-Class. This marks the first time the iconic Mercedes C-Class has been given an EV treatment, and it is based on the company’s MB.EA platform, which this car shares with the GLC EV. The Mercedes-Benz Electric C-Class has been unveiled with a 94kWh battery which is claimed to offer a range of up to 762 kilometers.

The electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class will initially be launched in the United States, and a global rollout will follow that. There is no official confirmation around the India launch of the electric C-Class, but it is expected to be launched in the first half of this year itself.

Mercedes-Benz Electric C-Class Battery and Powertrain
The electric C-Class has been launched with a 94kWh battery which is claimed to offer up to 762 kilometers of range on a single charge. In terms of power figures, the electric C-Class produces about 480 bhp of power, which accelerates the car from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4 seconds.

The new electric-C Class from Mercedes also features a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, which allows the electric C-Class’ acceleration and efficiency to be more balanced. We also get a rear axle with the electric C-Class which reduces the car’s turning radius to just 11.2 meters. For added comfort, Mercedes has even put an air suspension with adaptive damping with the new Mercedes C-Class.
Mercedes-Benz Electric C-Class: Design
The design of the electric C-Class is thankfully more in-line with authentic Mercedes-Benz design language, not like the EQE or EQS saloons, which didn’t sit well with the crowd. The front is now more similar to the GLC SUV. The DRLs on the front are star-shaped in order to resemble the Mercedes-Benz logo. This is something we are increasingly seeing with modern Mercedes-Benz cars.

From the back the design change is much more radical. We’re getting a blacked-out gloss panel that runs across the width of the rear, housing the tail-lamps and the Mercedes-Benz emblem. The tail lamps are circular in shape, with the star element within the star. The electric C-Class gets a sloping rear in order to enhance the drag coefficient.

Mercedes-Benz Electric C-Class: Interior and Features
Inside the Mercedes-Benz C-Class there is a familiar flat dashboard panel that hols a 39.1-inch “MBUX Hyperscreen” that spans the entire width of the car. It is made up to 1,000 LEDs and offers the ability to dim specific areas. The display is similar to what we saw in the new CLA EV, but of course here, the screen is much bigger and can do a lot more as compared to the CLA EV.

The electric C-Class from Mercedes-Benz also gets features like a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control, and electronically adjustable seats with memory function, massaging, and ventilation.

As mentioned above, the Mercedes-Benz electric C-Class will first be launched in the US. The global launch, according to the brand, will be in a phased manner, depending on regulatory approvals. There is nothing official about an India launch yet, but we expect it to be in the coming months itself.
