  • Launch expected in late 2025 or early 2026.

Meta is advancing wearable technology with two new pairs of smart glasses, codenamed Aperol and Bellini, featuring “super sensing” vision software. These glasses, designed to keep cameras and sensors always active, aim to enhance user experience through facial recognition and activity-based reminders, raising both excitement and privacy concerns.

The Aperol and Bellini glasses will incorporate Meta’s “super sensing” vision software, enabling constant monitoring for advanced functionalities like recognizing faces to recall names or reminding users to grab keys before leaving home. The glasses can also prompt tasks based on surroundings, such as picking up laundry while heading home.

Meta is also developing AI earphones with embedded cameras to complement this technology. However, testing on current Meta glasses shows that enabling the live AI feature reduces battery life to just 30 minutes, a challenge Meta aims to address before launch.

Privacy Updates and Release Timeline

To support this technology, Meta has revised its privacy policies, allowing increased AI training with user data, which is quite concerning if you ask me. The company is reassessing safety risks to expedite the release, with a potential launch window later in 2025 or early 2026, though no exact date has been confirmed.

The Aperol and Bellini glasses promise innovative AI features, but their always-on sensors raise significant privacy questions in India, where data security is a growing concern. Meta’s focus on wearables could redefine user interaction, but will consumers embrace this constant surveillance? What are your thoughts on Meta’s AI smart glasses?
