MG Air EV to break cover in India on January 5: Read on to know more

MG Motor India is all set to unveil its 2nd electric car for the Indian market. The MG Air EV launch date has been set for the 5th of January 2023.  The car will also be showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo. When it gets launched, the MG Air EV will be the smallest e-car in India. Reports claim that it is a rebadged version of the Wuling Air EV that is currently selling in Indonesia. MG Motors has also decided to source the battery pack for the e-car from Tata AutoComp so that the price can be kept within budget.

MG Air EV: Expected price

The MG Air EV is expected to be priced between 8 to 12 lakh (Ex-showroom) in India. It will be in direct competition with Tata Tiago EV and Citroen C3 EV.

MG Air EV: Features & Design

The MG Air EV is expected to have 2 battery pack options- 17.3kWh and 26.7kWh. The larger variant will offer a range of 300km whereas the smaller pack will give a range of 200km. The battery pack will come with an electric motor that will produce 38bhp of power.

If we talk about the interior of the electric car, then the MG Air will have leather upholstery with silver and black elements to make it look premium. The car will have a 10.25-inch screen for infotainment and cluster, an electronic parking brake, steering-mounted controls, and connected car tech.

The safety features include dual front airbags. ABS with EBD, TCS, and a rearview camera with parking sensors. The car is a 2-door, 4-seater vehicle that is smaller than 3 meters in length. It features an LED strip spanning the width of the front end, vertically stacked dual-barrel headlights, 12-inch steel wheels with stylized covers, and an LED bar at the rear.
