The start of 2026 is getting as exciting as one could have hoped for in the car market. After the announcement of the new Tata Sierra, the 2026 Kia Seltos, the 2026 Mahindra XUV 7XO, and the upcoming Renault Duster, Morris Garages (MG) has also made its move and unveiled the new generation of its popular SUV, the MG Hector. In this refresh, MG has launched new versions of both the MG Hector and the MG Hector Plus – both come with minor updates in terms of the design and powertrains, and a few updates in terms of the features and tech offered inside the popular MG SUV.
MG Hector 2026: Pricing and Variants

The new MG Hector has been launched at a starting price of ₹11.99 lakh onwards for the 5-seater variant, and starts at ₹17.29 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 7-seater variant. Given the pricing, the new MG Hector will start at a cheaper starting point as compared to the outgoing model. With that, we are also getting updates like gesture controls, a new grille that adds a lot of character, two new colours, and MG has also introduced MG Shield, which is a new ownership program from the brand.
MG Hector 2026: Design and Styling
With the updates being minor in nature, the design is what will set the new MG Hector apart from the old one on the roads. And in my opinion, there is nothing substantial apart from the front grille. We are getting a massive hexagonal grille finished in chrome which has completely changed the face of the car. Once a sleek and structured face, now looks more rugged and aggressive, thanks to the new grille. While many will like the new design with its more prominent road presence, I liked the previous sleek grille which gave it a nice modern SUV look. The brand is calling it the “Aura Hex Grille.” Now, this will definitely enhance the Hector’s road presence, but there is no denying that this looks like the only noticeable change in the design.

Among other design changes are the new rear bumpers with new details that do add a bit of character to the rear of the car. While it is a change which makes the rear look more aggressive, it remains something that will largely go unnoticed whenever someone spots the new MG Hector on the road.

There are also two new colours – Celadon Blue and Pearl White. Here also, the Celadon Blue is completely new since there was no blue shade on the car earlier, but the Pearl White again looks eerily similar to the Candy White colour in the outgoing MG Hector model. We are also getting new alloy wheels! The new diamond-cut alloy wheels are called the Dynamic Aura Bolt Alloy wheels. Here, the spokes are more straight as compared to the previous models, which have a sort of a “swirl” in their spokes.

Now in terms of the design impressions, the new MG Hector to my naked eye looks pretty much the same as the outgoing variant. While MG is calling it a “new version” of the Hector, it looks more of a facelift. Here, the only changes are the new grille, the new colours, the new bumper details, and the slightly changed alloy wheels. With that, my first impression of this design refresh is clear – the regular joe will not be able to tell the difference between the old and the new one, if not for the massive chrome grille.
