New Honda Amaze Powertrain

New Honda Amaze powertrain

Under its shiny exterior, the Honda Amaze has the same 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that powered the previous generation. The engine produces 90 hp of peak power and 110 Nm of peak torque. It is mated with a five-speed manual or a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with paddle shifters.

For the manual variant, the company claims a mileage of 18.65 kmpl, while the CVT variant increases the mileage a tad to 19.46 kmpl.

  • When compared to its closest rival, the new Maruti Dzire, the Honda Amaze is slightly more powerful but has slightly less pulling power.
  • Although the Amaze has a four-cylinder engine and offers decent mileage, the Dzire features a three-cylinder engine and claims to offer 24.79 kmpl in manual and 25.71 kmpl in automatic variants.

New Honda Amaze Exterior And Interior Design

  • Dimensions: 3995 x 1695 x 1501 mm
  • Colors: Lunar Silver Metallic, Meteroid Gray Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, and Obsidian Blue Pearl

The front fascia of the new Amaze looks a lot like the Honda Elevate. Whether it is the sharp headlamp housings, placement of the DRLs, or the chrome garnish connecting the headlamps with a broad hexagonal grille in the center, all elements seem to be inspired by the company’s four-meter SUV.

However, that is not to say that the front bumper doesn’t look good. If anything, the company has shrunk down everything in proportion, giving the Amaze a sharp face. The vehicle also gets fog lamps, but there’s no visible skirting toward the bottom.

Coming to the vehicle’s side profile, it comes across as a shorter version of the Honda City, but with one notable change. First, the rear-view mirrors are no longer on the A-pillar. Instead, the company has shifted them to the door. Beyond that, the 15-inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles, and blackened pillars remind of the company’s popular sedan.

  • Ground Clearance: 170 mm
  • Boot Capacity: 416 liters

There’s no side cladding; the vehicle gets a solid character line that runs from the front headlamps to the rear tail-lamps. The alloys look like the ones in the City but are slightly different. On the rear bumper, the Amaze features two tail lamps, with the company’s logo in the center and evident horizontal creases at the bottom.

As seen in the initial renders, the new Amaze’s interiors are heavily inspired by the Elevant. At the center, there’s an eight-inch floating infotainment screen, and below are the AC vents, automatic climate control buttons, and a couple of storage compartments. Toward the right of the center console are the iconic steering wheel (three-spoke, mounted controls) and the semi-digital instrument cluster.

On the left of the center console is a textured dashboard layout that feels slightly different than the Elevate. The company has used a two-tone finish: black and beige with some silver highlights.

New Honda Amaze Features

The compact sedan offers all the features that are offered in the segment, including automatic climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start/stop, LED projector headlamps, rear armrest, and so on. However, the absence of a front armrest and sunroof (one of the most demanded features in the Indian market) might disappoint some buyers.

Safety features on the new Honda Amaze include six airbags, a standard hill start assist, a lane watch camera, electronic stability control, and Honda’s ADAS suite
