On December 19, 2024, the Korean automaker Kia launched the Syros SUV in India. With a boxy silhouette and several segment-first features, the Syros doesn’t have any direct competitors in the market, which is why it could be a successful product for the company (if they get the pricing right).
While the vehicle’s exterior is inspired by the Kia EV9, the interiors (despite being a B2 segment SUV) have a fresh appeal with upmarket features. In this article, we’ll mention all the Syros variants (along with their expected pricing), the powertrain options, interior/exterior elements, unique features, and the booking/delivery timeline.

New Kia Syros Variants And Pricing

To maintain familiarity among buyers, Kia has named the Syros variants after Sonet and Seltos. With regards to pricing, every Syros model should cost around Rs. 1 lakh more than that of the Sonet but around Rs. 2 lakh less than that of the Seltos.
- Syros HTK: Rs. 9 lakh (expected ex-showroom price)
- Syros HTK (O)
- Syros HTK Plus

New Kia Syros Powertrains
Unlike the Sonet and the Seltos, the Syros isn’t available with a naturally aspirated petrol engine. Instead, the company offers a 1-liter turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The details of the two engines offered by Syros are given below.
- 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine that produces 120 PS of peak power and 172 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic) transmission.
- 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 116 PS of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
It is important to mention that the automatic trims will get paddle shifters with the transmission.

New Kia Syros Exterior Design

- Dimensions: 3995 x 1800 x 1665 mm
- Wheelbase: 2500 mm
- Colors: Black Pearl, Intense Red, Gravity Red, Frost Blue, Pewter Olive, Aurora, Imperial Blue, Sparling Silver, and Glacier White Pearl.
If the vehicle looks familiar, that’s because it borrows some design elements from the company’s electric cars, like the EV3 and the EV9. The front fascia of the vehicle features a boxy design with vertically-stacked LED headlamps and drop-down DRLs (teased heavily prior to the launch), along with a rectangular grill and thick cladding at the bottom.
On the side, the Y-shaped alloy wheels (17-inch on the top model), body-colored B pillar, and flush door handles draw immediate attention. The wheel arch is marked by aggressive side claddings, which turn into silver trims in the middle of the frame. To stand out from the other vehicles in the market, Kia has blacked out the A, C, and D pillars. Other notable elements include silver-colored roof rails, ORVMs with indicators, and a fuel tank on the left side.
On the rear, the vehicle features a flat bonnet with L-shaped LED taillamps and aggressive cladding at the bottom. A complete look around the car reveals that the headlamps and the secondary taillamps are connected with the wheel arches at the front and back, respectively.

New Kia Syros Interiors And Features

Although only the top model of the Syros has a broken cover, it seems to offer a massive upgrade over the Sonet, particularly in terms of the interiors and features. The top trim, for instance, features two 12.3-inch screens: one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment screen in the center.
It also looks like the vehicle has a dedicated 5-inch screen for controlling the air conditioner (in the middle of the other screens). Below the infotainment screen is a physical dial for controlling the volume (similar to the steering control), along with physical buttons. The air conditioner vents are placed horizontally, below the character line (illuminated) that runs throughout the dashboard.
The next thing that catches the eye is the steering wheel, which includes several controls (including driving modes). The company’s branding, interestingly, isn’t placed in the center; it’s slightly to the right. For those wondering about the features, the top trims offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (with OTA updates), four ventilated seats (first in the segment), and multiple-level reclining for the rear seats (another first in the segment).
To our surprise, passengers can slide the rear seat to increase/decrease the leg room or boot space. Additional features include wireless charging, an eight-speed Harman Kardon speaker system, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 360-degree cameras, and a Level 2 ADAS system. Last but not least, the vehicle will offer six airbags from the base variant.
