The London-based technology start-up Nothing could be working on another Nothing Phone, but not on Phone (2)’s successor. The company had a great start in 2021 with its audio products. In 2022, it released its first smartphone, the Phone (1), powered by Snapdragon 778G SoC and the iconic Glyph Interface on the rear panel. The mid-range phone was succeeded by the flagship Phone (2). However, the young brand now seems to be directing its resources in a new direction.

Nothing Phone 2a’s Model Number Surfaces Online

Nothing’s CEO, Carl Pei, has mentioned how difficult it is to establish a smartphone brand in a market with competitors like Apple, Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, and OnePlus. However, that doesn’t seem to stop the company from exploring what looks like a more affordable version of the Phone (2). According to Indian tipster Sanju Choudhary, the Pei-led company is working on Nothing Phone 2a with the model number AIN142.

Here Are Some Details About The Smartphone

The tipster also mentions that the smartphone could feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, a central punch-hole on the front screen, and a back panel similar to the Phone (1). However, that is the extent of information shared by the tipster. From the looks of it, the Phone 2a looks like a more affordable version of Phone (2), similar to how Google releases the A-series models of its flagship Pixel lineup.

Even so, the Phone 2a’s leaked image shows a dual-camera setup and a transparent back panel. If the smartphone is in development, we should hear more information about it soon, including its specifications, price, and launch details, not from the company but from renowned tipsters.
