Carl Pei has always been a master of revelation when it comes to its upcoming products. He did it with OnePlus launches and has continued to do the same on his new venture Nothing. Turns out the latest announcement that he made pre-launch is the chipset that the upcoming Nothing Phone (1) will be powered by. And yes, it is a custom-made Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC. Read ahead for some interesting bits about the announcement.

Nothing Phone (1) Specs

According to Carl Pei’s latest announcement that came as a meme revealing the major specification, Nothing Phone (1) will be tuned by a Snapdragon 778G+. It has been custom-made for the Phone (1). Although it is a regular Snapdragon 778G that we have seen quite a few times on other devices, Pei has maintained that it is custom-made and thus, the nomenclature is 778G+.

Pei added that Qualcomm has custom-made the chipset for Nothing Phone (1). With all the same specs and ARM core architecture, the phone brings two flagship-cadre features aka reverse charging and wireless charging. For the uninitiated, Qualcomm has been giving out these features on flagship-grade chipsets and a mid-range SoC getting these features seems like a custom-made solution.

Nothing has always kept specifications on the backside while improving user experience on their devices. Getting a mid-range chipset instead of a flagship one gives Nothing Phone (1) better thermals, a longer battery life, better user experience while preventing it from competing against some of the ruthless competitors in the flagship care.

Nothing Phone (1) appeared in thousands of leaks followed by the official reveal of its magnificent transparent back and an 800 LED-powered Glyph interface that has made Nothing millions in dollars even before the phone went up for sales thanks to the 100K+ pre-orders and counting. The Glyph interface is a new way to communicate. Unique patterns will show who’s calling, notifications, charging status, and more.

Nothing Phone (1) will have a 50MP dual camera with image stabilization. It will capture 4K liquid motion videos at 60fps. Nothing OS will deliver a good android experience as it will be free of bloatware and smooth in operation.

The device is expected to have a 6.55-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a dual-side Gorilla Glass design that will give toughness to the smartphone. The front will have symmetrical bezels and an aluminum frame to add lightness and durability.

Moving on, Nothing hasn’t made any pricing available yet. However, sources believe that it is targeting a price tag below $500 (or INR 39,500/- in India) which is apt pricing for a mid-range phone. Do stay put on SmartPrix for more great news and content around Nothing Phone (1) among others.
