Apparently, such negative trends against Nothing started after a YouTuber named Prasad posted a video on his channel ‘Prasadtechintelugu’ claiming that the company has not sent Nothing Phone 1 to South Indian Youtubers for review. The tech reviewer claims to have asked Nothing for a review unit but was denied one saying it will not be given to South Indian Youtubers You can watch this video here.

Following his claim, Twitterati started trolling the start-up brand on Twitter with #BoycottNothing & #DearNothing. Many Twitter users started asking Indian consumers to not to buy Nothing Phone 1 to show their solidarity with the South Indian reviewers. Here are some tweets that show the sentiments of the Indian public.

Some people pointed out that Nothing Phone 1 is being manufactured in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu and thus, this behaviour by the company is shameful. The tech reviewer has also claimed that not only Nothing, but many smartphone companies do not pay attention to reviewers in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Our Take:

No brand in their right mind will make a statement like the one claimed by the YouTuber. As far as a review unit is concerned, it’s a brand propagative to decide whether they wish to share a review unit on one individual or not. Venting out against the brand one for not sharing a review unit is not right.
