OnePlus is gearing up for its next big launch aka the OnePlus 12 later this year. It will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC that crashed 2 million points on AnTuTu 10 recently. But that’s not the only phone the Chinese maker is working on. There are speculations that a sub-flagship phone aptly dubbed the OnePlus 12R will be launched sometime next year as well. It will be powered by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and we just got our hands on some of the key specs.

According to tipster @ShishirShelke1, the OnePlus 12R, a successor to the OnePlus 11R, will be launched sometime next year. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC that powers OnePlus 11 as well and thus, we are already aware of its performance. The phone will have substantial CPU performance and gaming performance gains compared to 11R along with increased battery life to name a few. We are talking about a 5,500mAh battery that is expected to power the OnePlus 12R.

The next bit of information is with its optics. The OnePlus 12R is expected to include a 32MP telephoto shooter with 2x optical zoom capabilities. For the unversed, this is a significant upgrade from the 2MP macros snapper on the OnePlus 11R. If that’s not all, the OnePlus 12R will also bring a much brighter display. We are talking about a peak brightness of 3,000 nits instead of 1,400 nits on the OnePlus 11R which should turn heads for sure.

Moving on, there are speculations that we could expect a metal frame onboard the OnePlus 12R instead of plastic on the OnePlus 11R. If that’s true, there’s no doubt the OnePlus 12R will be a massive upgrade over its predecessor. The phone might arrive shortly after the flagship OnePlus 12 which is debuting in Q1 2024. Of course, there are no dates available at the moment.
