TL; DR
- Realme’s 200MP camera tech has reportedly appeared on OnePlus 16’s internal product list.
- The move signals deeper resource-sharing within BBK’s multi-brand smartphone ecosystem.
- No official confirmation yet, but the leak points to a near-launch timeline.
We’re almost halfway through the OnePlus flagship cycle, and rumors about the OnePlus 16 are already coming in. Most recently, a leak has surfaced on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, suggesting that the company could be integrating realme’s 200MP camera solution into its next flagship.
The move hints at a deeper resource-sharing with the broader BBK Electronics family, especially against the backdrop of the OnePlus operations and service network merging with its sibling companies.

Is OnePlus Raiding realme’s Camera Playbook?

According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the realme 200MP imaging solution has recently appeared on OnePlus’s internal product list. For context, realme has been quietly building a strong imaging reputation in the mid-range segment. Transplanting the technology onto a flagship device could give the brand a serious spec-sheet advantage.
The tipster tagged the Weibo post under #OnePlus 16, suggesting that the imaging solution could actually break cover on the OnePlus flagship later this year. The framing, translated from Chinese, says “integrating resources to continue creating an all-round sub-brand.” This indicates that integration might not be a one-off swap.

What Does This Mean For Buyers?

Right now, the OnePlus 15 (review) features a 50MP (f/1.8) primary camera with optical image stabilization, paired with two other 50MP sensors (ultrawide + telephoto). However, at launch, the phone gathered some criticism for featuring smaller camera sensors (an effective downgrade) compared to the OnePlus 13, which also featured the Hasselblad branding.
Anyway, the 200MP camera sounds like the right upgrade for the brand’s flagship smartphone. If the brand successfully absorbs the 200MP imaging solution without increasing the OnePlus 16’s price, that could result in a significant improvement, both on the spec sheet and in the real world.
