TL; DR
- Digital Chat Station claims the OnePlus 16 may use a 200 MP main camera.
- This follows OPPO’s habit of using similar hardware in the Find N foldables and later in OnePlus flagships.
- The launch is expected around October or November 2026.
Digital Chat Station has shared a new hint on Weibo about the OnePlus 16. According to the post, the phone could switch to a 200 MP primary camera. The sensor is not identified yet, but the rumor connects to the OPPO Find N6. That device is expected to have a 200 MP main sensor with two additional 50 MP cameras. If true, the same camera hardware could appear in the OnePlus 16.

This would be a major change from the current setup. The OnePlus 15 (review) uses a 50 MP Sony sensor. That model faced complaints for hardware reductions compared to older OnePlus flagships. The OnePlus 15 uses smaller sensors, narrower apertures, and does not include Hasselblad branding. Many users saw the move as a downgrade even though software processing improved.

A move to 200 MP on the OnePlus 16 would reverse that direction and bring the camera hardware in line with what other brands are planning for 2026. A 200 MP camera on the OnePlus 16 makes sense now that the Reno15 Pro series and the upcoming OnePlus 15s/15T are also getting it.
The OnePlus 16 is still expected around October or November 2026. More information about the camera system should appear once prototype units are tested or certification documents surface.
