Smartphone maker OnePlus just announced their latest Oxygen OS 15 software. The new OS update brings a redesigned user interface, artificial intelligence (AI) features, and improved security features to the eligible devices. Built on Android 15, OxygenOS 15 marks a significant step for the company, which has faced challenges in establishing its identity since merging with the ColorOS team.
Key Features of OxygenOS 15
OnePlus has focused on four core aspects in OxygenOS 15:
Enhanced Performance through Parallel Processing
OxygenOS 15 prioritizes speed and smoothness. By implementing “Parallel Processing,” OnePlus has ensured seamless app switching and fluid animations, even when multitasking. Additionally, they’ve optimized storage usage, resulting in almost 20% less space consumption compared to OxygenOS 14.
AI Takes Center Stage
OxygenOS 15 leverages AI to boost both creativity and productivity. Its AI-powered photography tools can enhance low-resolution images, sharpen blurry photos, and even remove reflections with a single tap.

In partnership with Google’s Gemini AI, OxygenOS 15 introduces Intelligent Search, enabling users to find anything on their device through natural language. The Circle to Search feature allows instant lookup of images or text on the screen by simply drawing a circle around them.
Other useful features include Pass Scan for quick access to boarding passes and AI Notes for efficient note-taking, complete with voice-to-text transcription and intelligent formatting. The AI Reply feature within the AI Toolbox provides smart, contextually relevant responses in chat conversations.
Furthermore, the Google Gemini app will be the default AI assistant on upcoming OnePlus flagship phones. Users can chat with Gemini for assistance with writing, planning, and learning, or use Gemini Live to brainstorm ideas and simplify complex topics through voice interaction.

A Fresh and Fluid User Interface
OxygenOS 15 offers a fresh perspective on OnePlus’s signature “burdenless” design. This includes vibrant new icons, captivating boot animations, and more personalization options, such as customizing the fingerprint unlock style. OnePlus has streamlined the overall experience, from settings to notifications, and even simplified file sharing with iPhones.
One notable feature is “OneTake,” which adds visual flair to the phone unlocking process. For those who enjoy customization, “Open Canvas” is now available on a wider range of OnePlus devices. Essentially, OxygenOS 15 aims to deliver a fast, smooth, and visually appealing experience with the addition of several handy features.

Increased Emphasis on Privacy and Security
OxygenOS 15 prioritizes both productivity and security. It utilizes Google Play Protect to continuously scan for threats and ensure device safety. To prevent theft, OxygenOS 15 incorporates automatic locking if suspicious movement is detected, such as someone running off with the phone. Users can also remotely lock their device using their phone number, and an offline lock activates if the phone remains disconnected from the network for an extended period. For added security, sensitive actions like disabling theft protection require fingerprint or facial recognition authentication.
