TL; DR
  • OnePlus India is expanding its service network to over 600 centres via OPPO’s infrastructure.
  • The company is shutting down offline retail, with March 31 set as the final billing date.
  • India CEO Robin Liu’s departure and global restructuring rumours add context to today’s changes.

OnePlus India has announced a 50% expansion of its authorised service network, growing from 400 to over 600 touchpoints across 500 cities in the country. This also includes Tier-2 and Tier3 cities. The brand has done this by leveraging Oppo’s existing service network.

Per OnePlus India, the move will reduce travel distances and wait times for customers to get their handsets repaired or replaced under warranty. However, the development comes amid significant organisational changes at the company.

According to reports, the service expansion was intended to reassure customers ahead of the company’s exit from the offline market. The company has reportedly asked partner-run exclusive stores to shut down, leaving only three company-owned outlets in the country.
