OnePlus introduced its first-ever foldable in 2023 calling it OnePlus Open. The foldable was also rolled out in India and the response was positive throughout the globe. The book-style foldable with high-resolution display and Hasselblad camera setup is all set to receive its successor in a few months. Yes, OnePlus is diligently working on OnePlus Open 2 which will launch later in 2024.

While the company hasn’t made any claims about the 2nd-generation foldable, a Chinese tipster has revealed some details about it. Here’s everything we know about the OnePlus Open 2 so far.

OnePlus Open 2: Launch Details

OnePlus launched the Oppo Find N3 as OnePlus Open following which the brand might launch Oppo Find N5 as OnePlus Open 2. Digital Chat Station took to Weibo to confirm that Oppo and Vivo are working on foldables that might launch later this year or early in 2025 in select markets.

OnePlus Open 2: Expected Specs & Design

OnePlus Open 2 is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset and pack a massive 6000mAh battery. If OnePlus does pack a 6000mAh battery, it will be the biggest battery in a foldable to date. The company might depend on Glacier Battery tech for this massive upgrade.

Since leaked renders of the OnePlus Open 2 are yet to surface online, there is very little idea about what it will look like. OnePlus Open 2 will most likely retain its predecessor OnePlus Open’s design language with some changes to the camera island.

The brand might have an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance to increase durability. The foldable will most likely run OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. A bunch of AI features might also roll out on the upcoming OnePlus and Oppo devices.

OnePlus Open 2: Expected Price

If OnePlus decides to go with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the buyers will have to shell out more than the OnePlus Open, but if the brand sticks with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the price might not increase much.

OnePlus Open was powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It had a 7.82-inch 2K AMOLED inner screen and a 6.31-inch 2K AMOLED cover screen. At the back is a 48MP triple camera setup with the price of the device being Rs. 1,39,999. The foldable was launched in October 2023.

Will this year’s OnePlus Open 2 launch in October-November 2024 or will it be deferred to next year, this will get clear soon.
