TL;DR

  • The Tensor G5 SoC on the Pixel 10 will support 4K60 HDR video recording.
  • Google’s Pixel 10 will also come with “Generative AI-based Intuitive Video Editing” baked into the Photos app.
  • Regarding the Tensor G6, it should offer “Ultra Low Light video” without using cloud processing.

A couple of days ago, details about the Tensor G5 SoC leaked on the internet. Now, a renowned publication has shared some information about the Tensor G5’s camera capabilities. Before diving in, it is important to mention that the Tensor G5 will feature on the Pixel 10 series, which could launch in August 2025.

Pixel 10’s Tensor G5 Will Support 4K60 HDR Video Recording

Google Tensor G4 SoC

According to Android Authority, the Tensor G5 SoC on the Pixel 10 will support 4K60 HDR video recording. Given that the competition, like the Galaxy S24 (review) and the iPhone 16 (review), already have the feature, it will be a welcome addition to Google’s next flagship series. On the Pixel 9 (review) series, HDR video recording is capped at 4K30.

The Phone Could Offer GenAI Video Editing Features

The Pixel 10 will also come with “Generative AI-based Intuitive Video Editing” baked into the Photos app. Until now, smartphones have offered GenAI photo editing features, wherein selecting an object in the background can remove it, or AI can tweak how a person’s face looks in a picture. Still, AI-based video editing would take things to the next level.

While the implementation of the same is under the curtains, we would want the feature to color-grade a video, apply transitions based on audio, and maybe even align the video to the beats of music. Nonetheless, Google is also considering other features like “Speak-to-Tweak” and “Sketch-to-Image,” as it already has the underlying technology for both of them.

Tensor G6 Might Provide “Ultra Low Light Video” On The Pixel 11

Google’s Tensor G5 should have enough processing power to support Stable Diffusion-based models entirely on the device. Regarding the Tensor G6, it should offer “Ultra Low Light video” without using cloud processing. Given that the feature entails processing every frame of the video, the Tensor G6 would also have to up its CPU and GPU game before launching with the Pixel 11 series.

Other Additions Include 100x Hybrid Zoom And “Video Relight”

While 100x zoom on smartphones has mostly been a software feat, Google wants to jump on the bandwagon and provide the feature with its next-generation telephoto camera on the Pixel 11. And the feature won’t just be limited to photos, as Google also wants to provide it for videos. Cinematic Blur on Pixel 11 will get an upgrade, too, reaching 4K30.

Further, the handset could come with a new “video relight” feature that can change the lighting conditions in a particular video. To power both features, the Tensor G6 will house a “Cinematic Rendering Engine” with its ISP. Last but not least, the smartphone will consume about 40% less power while recording videos with Cinematic Blur.

Even though these are pretty impressive additions, we’re still years from the release of the Pixel 11 and about 10 months from the launch of the Pixel 10. Hence, readers should take the information with a pinch of salt.
