Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC: Unique Features & Smartphones expected to be powered by it

Chipmaker Qualcomm has confirmed the date for its annual tech summit. The Snapdragon Tech Summit will take place from 21st to 23rd October this time and the event will see a major chipset launch taking place. Qualcomm will announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC with Oryon CPU during the summit. The invite video for the company’s 7th Tech Summit has been shared which says, “The stars are aligning” along with showing three bright stars in a straight line just like we see in the Orion Galaxy belt.

The brand’s Chief Marketing Officer, Don McGuire confirmed the same during the MWC 2024 that Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will come with Oryon CPU thus improving its neural processing unit.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4: Details

Reports claim that the upcoming chipset will have a self-developed prime core that will be able to reach the top speeds of up to 4.2GHz. The Geekbench scores for the same are said to touch 3000 points in single-core and 10,000 points in multicore, which is much higher than the predecessor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The upcoming SoC is said to use TSMC’s 3nm process similar to Apple’s A17 Pro chipset. The SoC is expected to feature LPDDR6 RAM and Qualcomm’s FastConnect 7900 connectivity setup.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will most likely power flagship devices like Samsung Galaxy S25 Series, OnePlus 13, Asus Zenfone 11, and Xiaomi 15 Series. In, fact Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro are expected to be the first phones to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. These might launch in China in October 2024.
