2020 has been a good year for smartphones so far, especially when it comes to performance. Moving forward, Qualcomm will allegedly introduce Snapdragon 865+, a higher binned version of its flagship SoC this year, as early as in July. The information was shared by renowned tipster Ice Universe on his twitter handle.

The tipster, however, has nothing to substantiate these claims. On the other hand, Asus ROG Phone 3 launch is set to launch on July 7 in China, and if past record is anything to go by, the upcoming gaming phone will most likely debut with the SD 865+.

Both ROG Phone and ROG Phone 2 each debuted with higher clocked versions of Snapdragon 800 series chips in their respective launch year.

Speaking of chipset specification, the Snapdragon 865 Plus is rumored to be clocked at up to 3.09GHz, substantially higher than what SD865 chipset can achieve (up to 2.84GHz). The 865+ chipset is also expected to include an integrated X55 modem for 5G support. Asus’ gaming phone is expected to pair SD865+ with a 120Hz AMOLED screen.

Apart from Asus, Samsung is also rumored to include Snapdragon 865+ mobile platform in its upcoming Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy Fold 2 smartphones. A recent Galaxy Z Flip 5G recent specification leak also hinted at the existence of Snapdragon 865+ mobile platform.
