TL; DR
  • The Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses are available to pre-order on Ray-Ban’s official website at a starting price of Rs. 29,900 for the shiny Wayfarer or Skyler designs.
  • Using a 12MP camera, a five-microphone system, and open-ear speakers, the glasses collect visual context when you want them to, and the Meta AI chatbot processes the information and provides the required information.
  • Another selling point for the AI glasses is their ability to provide live translation in four languages — English, French, Italian, and Spanish — even when users are offline (if they’ve downloaded the language pack in advance).

After announcing them last month, Meta and Ray-Ban have finally launched one of the most anticipated products of the Indian consumer tech market: the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses. Even though the device came to India two years after its global launch, its pricing and AI-based features have managed to create some hype.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Indian launch of the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses, including the new features, designs, pricing, and how it compares to the product’s global pricing.

Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses Features

Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Indian Launch Confirmed

The idea behind the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses is to combine something people use daily — glasses — with an AI chatbot (Meta AI) to offer hands-free access to information, communication, and creative tools.

Using a 12MP camera, a five-microphone system, and open-ear speakers, the glasses collect visual context when you want them to, and the Meta AI chatbot processes the information and provides the required information.

For instance, you can say “Hey Meta,” and ask about the car you’re looking at, the name of a flower, or to translate a signboard. The AI chatbot can also help you with the history of a landmark, fetch you recipes off the internet, or help you create visual notes and refer to them later. You can also ask the glasses to identify a song that’s playing in the background.

Another selling point for the AI glasses is their ability to provide live translation in four languages — English, French, Italian, and Spanish — even when users are offline (if they’ve downloaded the language pack in advance). So, when the other person speaks one of these languages, you’ll hear what they’re saying in your preferred language.

Yes, you can do all those things using your smartphone, but Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses make the information accessible faster, on the go. Besides the AI-related functionalities, the glasses can also make calls, stream media (like songs or podcasts), and help you capture photos and videos from a unique perspective.

For now, users can make calls and send messages through WhatsApp and Messages, but in a future update, users will also be able to send and receive direct messages, photos, audio calls, and video calls from Instagram directly on their Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses.

Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses Price And Availability

For now, the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses are available to pre-order on Ray-Ban’s official website at a starting price of Rs. 29,900 for the shiny Wayfarer or Skyler designs. The matte-finish variants cost more, going up to Rs. 35,700.

Regarding available sizes, I could find the Wayfarer version in 50-M and 53-L, and the Skyler in 52-M.

The AI glasses will go on sale in the country on May 19, 2025. Apart from the online store, they’ll also be available at the leading optical stores across the country.

FAQs

How does the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses Indian price compare to its global price?

In the United States, the Meta AI glasses start from $299 for the most basic version without prescription lenses. Adding the taxes, the price comes around $330 to $340, which is about the same as the current Indian launch price of Rs. 29,900. Hence, it makes sense to purchase the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses directly from the Indian store. This applies to both the shiny and the matte finish variants.

What about prescription lenses? Can’t I purchase the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses with corrected vision lenses in India?

As it turns out, the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses aren’t available with factory-fitted prescription lenses in India (just yet). They’re “available in a full suite of sun, clear, polarized, or Transitions” lenses, but I couldn’t find an option to add the details about my prescription lenses on the official website.

Nonetheless, the press release mentions them as “prescription lens-compatible,” but you should only get them engineered through authorized Ray-Ban or ExilorLuxotica outlets.
