Ray-Ban Meta Glasses 3: Details & Timeline

A user known as “XR Research Institute” has posted two purported images of the successor to the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses on the Chinese messaging platform WeChat, as reported by UploadVR.

One of the designs is referred to as “Aperol,” which pertains to a sunglasses model, while the prescription variant of the alleged smart glasses is codenamed “Bellini.” The renders support an earlier report by The Information that initially revealed the codenames for the successor to the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses. Ray-Ban aims to create two distinct glasses tailored for different types of users, rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach.

The two models feature subtly distinct designs, marking a departure from Meta’s existing smart glass model, which provides options for clear, sun, polarized, and Transitions lenses for each design. According to the report, these smart glasses are anticipated to be released in late 2025, following the launch of Meta’s Oakley Glasses, which were announced in June.

Regarding features, the new smart glasses are set to include a larger battery and will be outfitted with numerous AI functionalities. According to reports, these glasses will provide real-time object and scene recognition capabilities. They are expected to introduce more significant AI features compared to the enhancements we recently observed in the Oakley Meta Glasses.

Reports indicate that the new Ray-Ban glasses will include a set of optional features referred to internally as “super sensing”. With this feature, the Live AI capability of the glasses is expected to operate for several hours, significantly exceeding the 30-minute limit of the current model. This technology will utilize AI to comprehend what the user is observing and provide tailored assistance for straightforward tasks such as making phone calls, sending messages, or capturing photos. It will serve as a practical tool for individuals with vision, hearing, or mobility challenges.
